MyFitnessPal – Free Calorie Counter
So recently I have taken to using myfitnesspal to keep a check on how much i eat, drink and generally what my diet is like. I’m already eating healthy so it’s looking pretty good (except for today as it’s my cheat day) but I’m eating too few calories. I’m eating about 850 a day, and the recommended minimum is about 1200. I think I’m struggling to hit it because I work from home so don’t expend a lot of energy, and the food I eat just doesn’t contain very many calories. I eat a lot of protein, tuna and chicken mainly, which is great. But I do need to up the calories. I think my main meals are pretty well balanced. I have fruit for breakfast, usually a wholewheat sandwich or pitta bread with tuna/cheese or other healthy filling inside, with some salad. For dinner I eat 55g of carbs, some meat and vegetables, in varying formats. For example, I might have chilli with 55g rice or Pesto Chicken with Vegetables and 55g wholewheat pasta. My dinner averages on about 500 calories, which is about average.
I have decided that upping my calories is going to involve mostly snacking, so today I bought lots of fruit, low fat crackers, extra light laughing cow cheese, low fat chocolate mousse and some raisins. I’m going to aim for 3 snacks a day, so one between breakfast and lunch, one between lunch and dinner, and then a dessert.
Anyway, I just wanted to share with everyone what an amazing app it is and can be really eyeopening. You can use it as a loss weight tool, as it will tell you how many calories less you’ll need to consume to lose weight, and furthermore it breaks down into carbs/ protein etc so you will be able to tell if you are getting a balanced diet.
Also I forgot to weigh myself at the pharmacy today, but I think I will wait until day 10 of the shred (when I have completed level 1) to weigh myself and measure how many inches I have lost. That will be 1/3rd of the way through the programme, and then I can update every 10 days… and possibly do before and after photo’s… but we’ll see!
Hope you’re day is full of positivity!
